Javier is Of Counsel at Ramón y Cajal Abogados in the firm’s Competition Practice.
He specialises in the private enforcement of competition law. Specifically, he provides advice to clients in all types of actions for follow-on and stand-alone damages against cartels, abuses of dominant position and other anti-competitive practices. In relation to these actions for damages he also defends the interests of clients in the relevant infringement proceedings of the competition authorities and the subsequent contentious-administrative proceedings.
He has extensive experience in damages claims resulting from decisions issued by the Spanish competition authorities, having participated actively in pioneering cases in Spain.
Before joining Ramón y Cajal Abogados, Javier worked in the competition law private enforcement team of a large national firm and completed a placement at an international firm in Brussels.
Javier is Associate Professor at the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid.
He also coaches the teams of students from the Universidad Carlos III of Madrid who participate in prestigious legal competitions in the area of international public law (Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition) and competition law (Moot Free Competition).
