Pedro is a partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados and leads the firm’s competition practice. He is also co-partner in charge of the agri-food sector.
Pedro has advised clients for more than twenty years in relation to anti-competitive practices, merger control and other aspects of competition law. He has acted on behalf of numerous companies in administrative proceedings before the competition authorities and in contentious-administrative and civil proceedings before the courts. He advises clients both before Spanish competition authorities and courts and before the European Commission and European courts.
Pedro and his team have been pioneers in the private enforcement of competition law in Spain, having led two of the first three cases of actions for damages filed with the civil courts against cartels sanctioned by the Spanish competition authorities. Pedro also has a special interest in the regulation of unfair practices in the agri-food sector, an area in which he advises major clients and is a voice of authority.
Before joining Ramón y Cajal Abogados, Pedro practised as a lawyer at leading national and international firms in the area of competition law.
Pedro is recognised as one of Spain’s main specialists in competition law by various international legal directories.
Pedro is regularly invited to participate in specialist forums relating to competition law, both in Spain and abroad. He also occasionally gives classes and seminars at the Carlos III University of Madrid, the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Pontificia de Comillas University.
Pedro has been an editor of the Columbia Journal on European Law and the Gaceta Jurídica de la Unión Europea y de la Competencia.
