As announced by the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s Director, Mar España, during the Annual Open Session held on 26 June 2016, a public consultation procedure has been opened for the amendment of Act 15/1999, on the Protection of Personal Data (“Spanish Data Protection Act”).
Almost only a year for the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (“General Data Protection Regulation”) becomes applicable for all European Union Member States, the Spanish Ministry of Justice has opened the public consultation procedure set forth in article 133 of Act 39/2015, on the Public Administration Common Procedures, prior to the preparation of the draft of the preliminary bill.
