Carlos Lao is a partner in the Capital Markets and Finance Group of Ramón y Cajal. Mr. Lao has represented issuers and financial institutions in all matters relating to domestic and cross-border capital markets and financing transactions, including IPOs, privatizations, private placements, “accelerated book-buildings”, “block trades”, bonds issuances and EMTN programs, and has extensive experience in multiple other types of equity and debt offerings.
In addition, Carlos Lao is the partner responsible for the securitization work of the firm and, during his career, has also participated in public and private M&A transactions, public tender offers, syndicated credits and other corporate finance structures including project finance. Before joining the firm in 2002, he worked for several years at the New York and Paris offices of the international firm Shearman & Sterling.
He has been recognized as “Highly regarded Lawyer” in capital markets by IFRL 1000.
Professor of the sections on the stock market and project finance for academic year 2002-2003 of the Masters in International Business Law at the Universidad San Pablo CEU (Instituto de Estudios Europeos).
