Israel de Diego is a partner at Ramón y Cajal Abogados, which he rejoined in September 2026. He has more than twenty years of experience in corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
Throughout his career, Israel has advised listed and private companies, financial institutions, private equity, major corporate groups and family-owned businesses across a variety of transactional matters, including M&A, private equity investments and joint ventures.
He also has extensive experience in corporate and financial restructurings, corporate reorganizations and complex multijurisdictional transactions, regularly coordinating multidisciplinary teams across different jurisdictions.
His practice also includes capital markets transactions, such as bond and warrant issuances and other financial instruments, as well as IPOs and delistings. He has also developed significant experience in transactions involving the TMT and energy sectors.
Before rejoining Ramón y Cajal, Israel was a Corporate and M&A Partner at Dentons. He previously served as an M&A and Private Equity Partner at Araoz & Rueda and as an M&A and Capital Markets Partner at Baker McKenzie. Earlier in his career, he spent over a decade at Ramón y Cajal, where he worked from 2003 to 2014, first as an associate and later as a partner. He also practised at Cuatrecasas.
Israel holds a Law degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master’s degree in Legal Advice for Businesses from Instituto de Empresa. He has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 2002.
Israel is recognised by Chambers Europe and Chambers Global in Corporate/M&A, and has also been recognised as a Notable Practitioner in M&A by IFLR1000 and by Best Lawyers in Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions.
