Newsletter-General Data Protection Regulation: A change in privacy management
Finally, after more than four years of work, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) was published May 4 in the Official Journal of the European Union (“OJEU”). As indicated in its Article 99, the new regulation will be applicable since May 25, 2018.
Now, with the GDPR’s final version in our hands, it is time to consider how to implement it within the next two years. This task will not be easy, especially if we take into account that the GDPR includes articles with a "consensus wording" which allows to maintain existing national regulations (the articulation of existing national regulation with European regulation and the principle of equality remains to be seen) and referrals to delegated acts.
